Dorothy Champion Mullis, 91, of Roanoke Rapids, died Thursday, November 24, 2011 at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

Mrs. Mullis was the daughter of the late Walter Edward and Nora Roberts Champion. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James William ''Jimmy'' Mullis.

She was, along with her husband, the owner/operator of Chucks Grocery and the Puppy Palace Restaurant in Roanoke Rapids for many years.

She is survived by two sons, James William ''Chuck'' Mullis and his wife, Dorothy E., of Roanoke Rapids, and Steven Wayne ''Steve'' Mullis of Roanoke Rapids and Greenville; one grandson, James Brian Mullis of Raleigh.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Rick Gaskins officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 to 4:30 at the funeral home.
